Summer 2025 Ownership Cost Overwiev
Owning a BMW 420d Gran Coupe means comfort, performance, and efficiency. But how much does it really cost to run this car in daily use? In this article, I share real data from the summer period (June 13, 2025 – August 20, 2025) and break down fuel costs, service expenses, and the cost per kilometer.
If you are thinking about buying this car or just want to know what ownership looks like, this overview gives a clear picture.
All graphs in this post come from the MyCar app, which I use to track my car expenses.

Summer Time Fuel Consumption
From mid-June to late August, I drove 5,887 km in total.
- Average fuel efficiency: 4.90 l/100 km
- Fuel price per liter: 1.52 EUR
- Fuel cost in total: 491.04 EUR
The numbers show that the BMW 420d Gran Coupe with the B47 engine remains very efficient. Highway trips kept the consumption low, while city drives balanced the overall average.

Service and Maintenance Details
During this period, I did one regular service:
- Oil and filter change – 100 EUR

Routine maintenance like this keeps the engine in good condition and ensures long-term reliability.

Upcoming Maintenance and Costs
Looking ahead, two upcoming expenses are expected in the near future:
- Oil and Filter Replacement – Scheduled in about 65 days or 4,271 km. The estimated cost will be 200–250 EUR, since all filters will be changed together with the oil.
- Technical Inspection – Due at the beginning of December 2025. If no issues appear with the suspension or brakes, the expected cost is around 100 EUR.
These planned costs will keep the BMW 420d Gran Coupe in top condition and ensure it remains reliable for both local drives and long-distance trips.
Conclusion
Owning the BMW 420d Gran Coupe during summer 2025 showed a strong balance between comfort, performance, and cost efficiency. With fuel consumption averaging 4.90 l/100 km and total monthly expenses under 200 EUR, the car remains an economical choice for long trips and everyday driving. Regular maintenance, like the oil and filter change, added only minor extra costs while keeping the engine in top shape.
For anyone considering this model, the numbers prove that it delivers premium driving at a reasonable running cost.
