BMW 420d B47 Engine Maintenance
Regular maintenance is essential to keep your vehicle running smoothly and efficiently. On November 9, 2024, I performed a comprehensive oil and filter service on my BMW 420d Gran Coupe (F36), 140kw, 2016 at 104,632 kilometers. This service included not only the standard oil and oil filter replacement, but also a full refresh of all other filters to ensure optimal engine performance and interior air quality.

Maintenance Timeline
The last oil service took place on March 27, 2024, at 94,162 km. At that time, the oil, oil filter, and air filter were replaced; however, the fuel and cabin filters remained unchanged. Since then, the car has covered 10,470 kilometers. On November 9, 2024, a full maintenance was completed at 104,632 km, including the replacement of all filters. This comprehensive service not only refreshes all critical components but also helps maintain engine efficiency, reliability, and long-term performance.

Why Full Maintenance Matters
Performing a full maintenance service, rather than only changing the engine oil, ensures your BMW 420d continues to run at peak efficiency. Clean filters allow proper air intake, fuel delivery, and cabin air circulation. Ignoring these components can lead to reduced performance, higher fuel consumption, or even engine wear over time. Preventative maintenance like this not only improves reliability but also protects your investment by extending the vehicle’s lifespan. It also gives peace of mind, especially before long trips or seasonal changes. A complete service at regular intervals is a small cost compared to potential repairs due to neglected components.
Conclusion
Replacing all filters at once is a great way to ensure the engine breathes clean air, the fuel system stays protected, and the cabin remains comfortable and allergen-free.
This service helps prolong the engine’s life, improves fuel efficiency, and maintains the overall health of the vehicle. It’s also a good opportunity to check for any leaks, wear and tear, or unusual behavior under the hood.
